Fresher with some showers, though drier and sunnier (somewhat) by the weekend.

Thanks to Fiona for the photograph.

The general picture sees low pressure spreading down from the north-west and becoming part of the enlarged Scandinavian trough which has been a semi-permanent part of their summer.

Wednesday starts cloudy, perhaps still a splash of rain to come. The cloud will clear mid-morning ish to gradually brightening skies, and rather sunny by the end of the day. A chance of a shower or two during the day, say 40% chance, which could be heavy – perhaps late afternoon more likely if any time. Breezy at times and reaching around 23’C. Fairly clear skies overnight though some cloud at time, perhaps a splash of rain from a decaying shower. Down to around 14’C.

Thursday is a showery day – the first proper showery day for two months? Quite a lot of cloud around but some bright/sunny spells, showers possible in the morning, but likely in the afternoon. Most likely you catch a few heavy/very heavy slow-moving showers, thunder possible too. Around 21’C, maybe 22’C and a little breezy. Showers gradually fade in the evening, and skies will gradually clear overnight. Down to around 12’C.

Friday starts sunny. Fair-weather cloud will bubble up from around midday onwards with around a 70% chance of catching a shower or two – more likely late afternoon/early evening, but possible earlier. Potentially heavy, a chance of a rumble of thunder. Feeling fresher in the northerly breeze, reaching around 21’C. Showers fade in the evening, skies mostly clearing overnight – down to around 10’C.

By Saturday high pressure will be building in from the west, it twas ever thus.

A sunny start but plenty of cloud will bubble up – likely more cloud than sun but remaining bright. A chance of a light shower but more likely it stays dry. Temperatures nothing special – around 21’C. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 9’C.

Sunday will be a pleasant day, more in the way of sunshine – still some cloud bubbling up at times, and warmer, up to around 23’C or so. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 11’C.

Monday will be similar, sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud – perhaps more cloud than on Sunday but still broadly pleasant, and around 23’C or so.

A period of uncertainty follows – there is a 40-50% chance of a spell of heavy rain spreading up from the south on either Monday night or during Tuesday day. Or both.

And that’s as far as I can go right now in terms of details.

For the rest of the week and into the bank holiday weekend, the more likely outcome is changeable, if not outright unsettled.

Some drier days possible, but showery days or outright wet and windy days should be more frequent.

Well…the rain dances worked I guess.

Next full forecast will be on Monday morning, I think.
