A fresher feel today but temperatures will increase as the next heatwave approaches.

I feel like we’ve got to the point where a wet forecast would be more welcome than another hot and sunny one? Even I wouldn’t mind a break (during the working week, of course).

Thanks to Julie for the photograph.

The general set-up sees the Azores high to the west with low pressure to our north-east, bringing the fresher air – was almost a bit chilly on my morning walk today.

Thursday starts sunny but cloud will bubble up from around mid-morning onwards, and likely more cloud than sun for a fair few hours – sunnier towards the end of the day. Much fresher than it has been at around 21’C. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 10’C.

Friday again starts sunny, some cloud will bubble up from mid/late-morning onwards though likely remaining more sunshine than cloud overall. Warmer again, around 25’C. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 10’C.

Saturday sees long spells of sunshine all day, though some high cloud may make it a bit hazy at times. Quite hot, 27’C. Some cloud, some clear spells overnight and a warmer night than late – down to around 15’C. A very small chance of a shower.

A bit of uncertainty for Sunday as a weather front will be trying to push down from the north-west, though emphasis on trying.

Most likely we stay sunny or fairly sunny – with a small-to-moderate chance that the weather front brings a shower later in the day. Hot, between 30’C and 32’C most likely. At least some cloud likely overnight as this weak weather front continues to try to push south – a small chance of a bit of rain but more likely dry, and fairly warm, down to around roughly 16’C or so, but low confidence on a specific number.

By Monday we see the Azores high now building over the slightly to the east of the UK which will draw in heat from the south – helped along by low pressure to the west of that.

Some uncertainty on details but more likely at least some cloud around but also good spells of sunshine. Temperatures likely lower than on Sunday, but a fair range possible – anything from 25’C to 30’C. Clear skies likely overnight, down to around 15’C.

Most likely Tuesday is hot and sunny with temperatures roughly in the range of 29’C to 31’C. A warm night likely.

Wednesday probably sunny and very hot – perhaps low 30s but more likely in the range of 34’C to 36’C. A warm/very warm night likely – an outside chance of a thundery shower.

Probably still hot on Thursday, details more uncertain but sunny and dry more likely – say closer to 30’C but uncertain.

Probably still quite hot for Friday and into next weekend though maybe a little cloud at times and a shower not impossible.

There remains signals of something more showery the week after – though many times this summer there has been a chance of showers 10+ days away, and it hasn’t happened. Perhaps though this time is more likely…perhaps.

Hope you can still enjoy the sunshine!
