Plenty more sunshine to come, if rather hazy at times, and becoming hot – though not quite as hot as last week, at least not yet.

Thanks to Joanna for the photograph.

The general picture sees the Azores High building in from the south-west with the jetstream to the north – though occasional weak weather fronts will bring some cloud.

One such weak weather front is currently over us as I write, bringing cloud and maybe a spot of light rain to start Thursday. This will clear south later in the morning, the sun will come out and there will be good spells of sunshine then for the rest of the day, and just a bit of cloud around, maybe some high cloud. Very warm, reaching around 25’C. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 12’C.

Friday sees good spells of sunshine all day, a bit of high cloud making it a bit hazy at times, and a bit of fair-weather cloud also. Very warm, around 26’C. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 15’C – though some cloud by dawn.

Saturday morning probably starts on the cloudy side, though this will gradually break up – by roughly around late morning, but take that as approximate, and there is no guarantee that there will be cloud in the first place. So the afternoon (if not longer) would then be mostly sunny, some fair-weather cloud around, and very warm again – around 26’C. High-level cloud overnight, down to around 15’C.

Little change in set-up by Sunday with high pressure still very well in charge, centred to our south-west.

Likely quite a bit of high cloud around from the weather fronts to the north, making it hazy, but hazy sunshine all day – and on the hot side, around 29’C. High cloud staying in place overnight, down to around 15’C.

The same kind of deal for Monday, hazy sunshine for much of the day though a chance of some thicker cloud at times. Around 29’C, give or take. Quite warm overnight, down to around 16’C.

Tuesday very much the same kind of vibe, hazy sunshine or some variation of, perhaps some fair-weather cloud and still pretty hot – roughly around 29’C. Perhaps a warmer night but too far away to have much confidence.

Uncertain on details for Wednesday though it looks more likely that the high pressure to the south-west of the UK will make a push over the UK.

There might be quite a bit of cloud trapped at first so Wednesday could be a cloudy but very warm day – with the cloud gradually breaking up. But also it could just be sunny and hot.

So assuming the high pressure does build over the UK on Wednesday, that means Thursday through into next weekend are likely sunny and hot – say roughly 28’C to 33’C – somewhere in that range.

It’s certainly possible that we get back into the mid/high 30s at that point or just after – but it isn’t the more likely outcome, say a 25% chance.

As I said last time, I’m increasingly confident of there being lots more sunshine, warmth/heat and not much in the way of rain in the coming weeks/months. Summer-lovers (such as myself) should be very happy.

Enjoy!
