A few more days of warm, October sunshine – then something cooler and more mixed.

Thanks to Kate for the photograph.

The general set-up sees the Azores high stretching across much of central/northern Europe – low pressure far to our north, and also to the south over the Meditteranean.

Sunday sees long spells of sunshine once any early mist/fog patches clear, with a bit of high cloud at times. Warm, around 22’C. Reasonably clear skies overnight though mist/fog patches forming in places before dawn. Down to around 11’C.

Monday starts with mist/fog/low cloud around for many places. This will break up to leave reasonably good spells of sunshine once more, with a bit of cloud around at times. Again warm, around 22’C. Reasonably clear skies for much of the night, but a good chance of mist/fog forming before dawn. Down to around 10’C, give or take.

Tuesday probably starts with mist/fog/low cloud – though not necessarily every location. This gradually lifts and breaks up during the afternoon to leave increasing spells of sunshine, generally speaking, though some cloud around. Again on the warm side for the time of year, reaching around 21’C. Overnight sees low pressure heading up from the south/south-west – some rain probable but details uncertain at this stage. Down to around 13’C.

By Wednesday high pressure is now to our west, with this low pressure system moving up from Spain and heading north-east.

Details are a little uncertain but mostly its a cloudy day with outbreaks of rain – timing uncertain as is intensity. There is at least a small chance that this could develop into a very notable spell of rain, but more likely it is nothing out of the ordinary. Temperatures peaking around 15’C though likely cooling down as the day goes on. Clear skies likely overnight, down to around 6’C.

Thursday will be sunny but with notably lower temperatures – reaching around 14’C. Some cloud around in the afternoon. Cloud thickening overnight, rain probably arriving before dawn. Down to around 7’C.

Friday will often be cloudy with rain at times – rain more likely in the morning, perhaps some brightness at times, showery rain still possibly, if not probably in the afternoon and evening at times. Around 16’C and breezy. Further showery rain possible in the evening, though tending to clear skies as the night goes on – down to around 8’C.

Saturday looks reasonably fair, probably quite a bit of cloud, some sunny spells, a small chance of a shower – breezy and around 15’C.

Sunday uncertain at this stage – roughly 50/50 split as to something similar to Saturday, or something a bit showery but nothing too wet.

No real signals for the week after yet, perhaps warmer than normal but otherwise uncertain as to weather conditions.

Have a fine Sunday.
