Let’s pretend it’s summer. Sunny and warm is the vibe.

Our summer friend, the Azores High is back and building over the UK once more. The jetstream is pretty strong but stays mostly to our north, where fairly deep areas of low pressure will pass.

Sunday starts fairly cloudy but it will gradually break up during the morning with increasing amounts of sunshine as the afternoon goes on, and a very pleasant afternoon – still a bit of cloud, mostly high-level. Actually a little less warm than yesterday, around 20’C, maybe 21’C, and a bit of a breeze. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 8’C.

Monday sees long spells of sunshine, a little bit of high cloud around in the morning but even that will go. Around 21’C or so. Clear skies overnight, down to around 9’C. A small chance of some mist/fog by dawn.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, bar a small chance of some early mist/fog, though more likely it didn’t form around here. Warmer, around 23’C, maybe a tad more. Reasonably clear skies overnight, a small chance of mist/fog forming by dawn, down to around 10’C.

Wednesday sees a weather front pushing down from the north-west, though mostly for Wednesday it just means hazy sunshine rather than full on sunshine. Warm, around 23’C. A chance of some showery rain later in the afternoon/evening from the weatehr front – though most of the rain will be further north. Mostly clear skies follow, down to around 8’C.

By Thursday we see high pressure again building over the UK, though a pretty strong low pressure system to the west will push the heights away quite quickly.

Back to long spells of sunshine, though becoming hazy in the afternoon as weather fronts try to push in. Fresher, around 20’C. High level cloud overnight which stops temperatures falling too much, down to around 11’C.

Uncertain for Friday though the more likely outcome is that we hang onto sunshine, or at least hazy sunshine and warmth, until the weakening weather front arrives later in the day with more cloud and perhaps some showery rain. Around 21’C or so.

Not massively high confidence for next weekend, broadly speaking high pressure hanging on with one or two weak weather fronts around – so reasonably sunny at times, though some cloud around – especially high level cloud to make it hazy, perhaps a bit of rain at some point, and broadly fairly warm, say 20’C to 22’C, and mild-ish nights.

The more likely outcome for the week after sees high pressure build again, with perhaps more of a southerly flow and warmer temperatures again – at least for the first few days. Not impossible that we squeeze another quite hot day or two. Though probably not every day sunny – probably there would be a weak weather front or two in the mix.

Greater chances of something more unsettled later that week.

This surely has to be our last spell of summer weather for the year…so enjoy whilst you can.

There is definitely rain after this – especially in November.
