Sunday 10th May 2026

A cooler and more showery week ahead.

Thanks to Tara for the photograph.

The general picture sees high pressure to our north-west, low to our south-west – the latter is bringing the cloud this morning, the former will re-angulate to allow cooler air to flow down from the north/north-west tonight.

Sunday starts cloudy – a combination of a weak weather front from the north and one from the south – perhaps there might be a little light rain this morning, but mostly it will remain dry. It should brighten up a bit this afternoon as cloud thins a bit, but it likely remains at least fairly cloudy. Quite windy, especially this morning – reaching around 15’C. Mostly clear skies overnight and a chilly night – down to around 2’C.

Monday starts sunny but a band of cloud and a few showers will spread down from the north during the morning. Becoming sunnier again in the afternoon. Feeling a bit cooler in the northerly (ish) breeze, around 13’C. Mostly clear skies overnight and chilly again – down to around 2’C.

Tuesday starts sunny. Another weak weather front will spread down from the north-west from around late morning onwards with cloudier skies and perhaps a little bit of showery rain – but it really will be a little bit, if any. Around 16’C. Often clear skies overnight though some cloud and a chance of a shower or two – down to around 6’C.

Wednesday sees low pressure spreading down from the north-west.

Some sunny spells but lots of showers, often heavy/very heavy – perhaps hail and/or thunder mixed in too. Unlikely to miss them all, probably will see quite a few during the day. Around 14’C and breezy – gusty in showers. Some clear spells, some cloud overnight – shower chance remains, around 5’C.

Thursday is another day with plenty of cloud, some sunny spells and plenty of showers, likely heavy/very heavy, hail/thunder possible. Temperatures struggling to around 13’C in the northerly breeze, still gusty in the heavier showers. Reasonably clear skies overnight, down to around 3’C.

Friday looks a fairly cloudy day, still showery but fewer and less likely to be heavy than the previous days. Still pretty cool in the northerly breeze, around 13’C.

The more likely outcome for next weekend is for more showers, and temperatures likely not amazing, perhaps a little higher.

The more likely outcome for the week after would see further showers or rain, with a trend to something drier/warmer by the end of the month and for the beginning of June. Looks like I’ve timed my upcoming temporary escape from the UK exceptionally well!

Next forecast should be on Wednesday morning, though I do have a super busy week. Have a fun Sunday.
