Cloudy. I’ll be back later in the week with the next update.

Oh, go on then, I’ll write a daily summary as usual.

Thanks to Christel for the photograph.

So we start the week with high pressure over us – centred to our east over the North Sea and into Germany. If it were summer, this would be a glorious and hot spell of weather. Sadly, it ain’t summer.

Today will be cloudy. There’s a small chance of some sunny breaks by late afternoon, but more likely you’ll stay cloudy. Around 12’C. Most likely cloudy overnight – even if the cloud breaks, fog would form, but for most it will just stay cloudy and no lower than around 8’C.

Again, Tuesday will be cloudy. A moderate chance of some sunny spells late in the afternoon, but again slightly more likely just to stay cloudy…but you might see a little sunshine. Around 13’C. Cloudy overnight, perhaps some mist, down to around 8’C.

Wednesday will be cloudy. Temperatures around 12’C – give or take. Cloudy overnight – perhaps a spot of drizzle, around 10’C.

Thursday will be…cloudy…yep you got it. Reaching around 12’C. Mostly cloudy overnight, down to around 9’C.

Hints of a change by Friday, the high pressure now centred over eastern Europe which allows a weak weather front to try to push in from the west.

Still likely a lot of cloud, but more hope for some sunshine, especially in the afternoon – perhaps more likely it becomes sunny in the afternoon than stays cloudy, but don’t be surprised if it does stay cloudy. Reaching around 14’C. Overnight the weather front pushes east, bringing cloud and perhaps a little patchy rain.

Saturday likely sees plenty of cloud once more, but chances of some sunshine in the afternoon. Around 14’C – though with a little sunshine then maybe a tad more. Cloudy overnight, perhaps foggy.

By Sunday, high pressure starts to build strongly from the south once more (whhhhhyyyy not in summer aaaarrrggghhhh). Uncertain on cloud/sunshine amounts at this stage but I’m hopeful of at least some afternoon sunshine. Reaching around 14’C – pretty pleasant if the sun does come out, for the time of year. Most likely cloudy or foggy overnight.

Next week likely starts with high pressure over the UK, or close by. Uncertain on exact positioning at this stage, but probably differently positioned/orientated than the previous two weeks, and hence a chance of something sunnier…perhaps cooler too.

Hints remain of something more unsettled around mid-month, but this is fairly tentative and the high pressure is quite a beast – I doubt it will move far and could well dominate our weather for much of the winter, in one position or another.
