Hot and sunny…at least for a few days.
Thanks to Fay for the photograph.
We start the week with an unsubstantial area of high pressure to our east, but enough to keep weather systems away and draw up some hot air from Spain. The jetstream has also shifted north at last, albeit I expect that to be temporary.

Today sees glorious sunshine all day. Hot, 29’C. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 14’C.
Tuesday again sees sunshine all day, though a little high cloud at times and perhaps some fair weather cloud bubbling up. Hot, 31’C should be achieved, perhaps a tad more. Also becoming humid. Mostly clear skies overnight though a warmer night, eventually down to 17’C.
We keep the heat for Wednesday, though an easterly breeze will pick up and take the edge off a bit. Broadly sunny, though some cloud around – both fair weather and high/mid-level cloud. Temperatures somewhere between 28’C and 30’C. A small chance of a thundery shower, but unlikely. Another warm night expected, no lower than 18’C – a chance of a thundery shower.
Thursday is a bit messier. Likely staying on the hot and humid side, temperatures anywhere between 22’C and 31’C, though the upper range more likely – the range because thundery showers will likely break out, but the extent to how much they do, and from when, will determine how hot it gets beforehand. Showers likely fade in the evening, another fairly warm night, 16’C give or take.
By Friday, low pressure will be looking a bit ominous out west, but we will still scrape out some more pleasant weather before it arrives on the scene.

Generally pleasant with sunny spells, some cloud, a chance of a shower and still very warm – reaching around 26’C, but could easily be a bit more. A weather front looks like it will cross overnight, bringing cloud and bits and pieces of rain. Still warm, around 18’C.
For Saturday we should be in a more westerly flow, so we’ll probably have lost the heat, and have a breeze but it should be pleasant still – sunny spells, some cloud, an outside chance of a shower and reaching somewhere around 23’C. I wouldn’t rule out something warmer though.
Lower confidence for Sunday, more likely I think we hold onto the warm/very warm conditions with some hazy sunshine. But weather fronts look like they will be approaching, so it could instead be cloudier with some rain.
Pretty low confidence for next week at this stage, though a changeable start more likely with showers/rain at some points, likely still warm, perhaps very warm.
Suggestions of high pressure building from the west again later next week.…
